Local Assistance Agencies for BECE Qualifying Members
Utility assistance is available for households that qualify based on government set income guidelines. Utility bills such as electric or gas bills, heaters, air conditioners, water heaters and other appliances are types of assistance that are available for elderly, disabled and other households.
You can access a listing of agencies along with additional information by clicking here.
Please be advised that it is the responsibility of the member to contact the assisting agency, apply for assistance and any follow up that is needed. Pursuant to the rules of the Public Utility Commission of Texas, designation as a chronic condition or critical care residential customer does not relieve a member of the obligation to pay for electric service, and service may be disconnected for failure to pay or make formal payment arrangements. Chronic or critical care status does not guarantee an uninterrupted, regular, or continuous power supply. If electricity is a necessity, you must make other arrangements for on-site back-up capabilities or other alternatives in the event of loss of electric service.
